Dr Hughes is heavily involved in teaching, training and supervision of all grades of multi-disciplinary staff. He is multi-disciplinary team leader on a general medical ward at St Peter’s hospital. He is also college tutor and Local Faculty Group Chair within the hospital and responsible for maintaining high quality teaching and training of junior doctors.
He is a faculty member of the Royal College of Physicians department of Education and is a college ‘educator’ and helps to run programmes on a regular basis within the college.
He is programme director for the rheumatology training programme for Kent, Surrey and Sussex health education provider and has won a recent award in 2012 for his leadership within medical education. He runs joint injection programmes for junior doctors and has just recorded a new series of educational videos where joint and soft tissue injections techniques are demonstrated.
