Role In Education
Dr Hughes is an accredited College Educator for the RCP London and an examiner for the membership PACES exam. He regularly facilitates education certificate days for Education Supervision, On the Job teaching and Handover that take place at the college for both consultants and junior doctors.
He runs a diploma for GPs with a special interest in MSK medicine within Middlesex University (PG Dips MSK) run through an education provider RILA. This is a distance learning diploma and has regular Webinar education sessions run by Dr Hughes through the year long course
He teaches junior doctors of all specialties and has been college tutor at ASPH trust for the last eight years and is training programme director for all Rheumatology trainees within Kent Sussex and Surrey deanery .
Dr Hughes provides education sessions for GPs within their own practices and topics include updates on Osteoporosis. Rheumatoid Arthritis, PMR and GCA and Vitamin deficiency. Please download relevant papers on the left of this page.
Dr Hughes is medical advisor for several patient groups such as North West Surrey National Osteoporosis Society (for whom he runs regular updates for newly diagnosed patients), The Surrey PMR group and has also given talks and provided education material to NRAS, the Surrey Fibromyalgia Society, Arthritis Care and the Surrey Lupus group.
